“Sita Hackathon” 2017 from South Africa

SITA recently held a three day marathon for students called, “Sita Hackathon” Eight teams had to develop concepts and solutions to improve the lives of South Africans by using technology. This is a short video of some of the activities including CEO Dr Setumo Mohapi. Closing remarks and vote of thanks by Ms Seadimo Hessie Chaba. First prize was awarded to Team Education For Less, sponsored by Software AG, who looked at reducing the cost barriers for education by replacing costly infrastructure with Cloud Varsity, a high-quality online education portal.

Hackathons are fun events, held over a 24 or 72 hour period, usually at a weekend, where teams of developers, User Experience designers and product managers – in fact anyone who’s interested – are crammed together in a venue.

The event was held at the Diep in die Berg Conference Venue.
